What Is Golf Fitness?
Golf fitness may once have been considered an oxymoron. It was common to see competitors smoking a cigarette during play and being fit didn’t seem to have anything to do with the game. Golfers were not typically thought of as athletes.
Thanks to players like Tiger Woods that thinking has changed.
Watch any golf tournament on television and you’ll see more than just a few “buff” bodies. Because of the improved physical conditioning, many of today’s pro players are on par with the world’s elite athletes.
Golf specific workouts and exercises have become an essential part of the modern golf game, and not just for elite players. From juniors to seniors, casual players to the semi-serious, everyone’s game can benefit from golf fitness training.
Golf fitness is about developing greater mobility, flexibility, strength, and endurance. Getting fit will improve any golfer’s overall performance, and enhance quality of life off the course. Functional exercises used in golf specific training will develop the body to the positions, movements, and physical demands of an efficient golf swing. Improved conditioning will also lessen the occurrence and possibility of golf injuries.
Before spending money on the next miracle golf club or gimmick, try working with a golf fitness trainer to change your game and your life.
